BIO

NMEZEE was born in St. Louis, Mo., and came by way of Cape Girardeau, Mo., to reside in Kansas City, Mo. By the age of 16, he was already learning the ways of the music-world’s turntables, using records such as “Tribe Called Quest,” “Hieroglyphics,” and “KRS-One” to experiment with beat-juggling, scratching, and other tricks.

At 18, he switched over to drum and bass, playing around with groups like C4C, Technical Itch, and Panacea, to further hone his skills on the turntables. The practice paid off when he was asked to join a production crew called StreetSonic, putting him in his first show opening for DRC and THEE-O. He continued to play small clubs, helping ravers rage well into the night.

A few years later NMEZEE, along with his friend Two-Tone, started a four-turntable drum and bass group named Herbal Assassins, each playing two decks. They went on to play numerous opening gigs for headliners, such as The Urge and The Crystal Method. After the group parted ways, NMEZEE moved to Kansas City where he joined with J Fortune and LOTUS Camp… He was introduced to dubstep through a fellow crew mate, and the group began producing series of shows, such as KABLAMMO!, which featured dubstep, and FUNKADELIC, featuring drum and bass. NMEZEE also started hosting shows once a week on the number one Internet dubstep station called Dubstep.fm.

In 2008, NMEZEE joined up with two friends to start a production group called E.Z. Brothers. With six turntables, and some of the sickest dubstep around, E.Z. Brothers travel around the Midwest to keep the people dancing. They’ve opened for the likes of EOTO for the past too Halloween’s, sub-headlined at Underground Sound 4&5, and did a mini-tour with 12th Planet. The group consistently draws huge crowds, all wanting to be a part of their dubstep revolution. Be on the lookout for upcoming shows and special events by the E.Z. Brothers. In the meantime, you can catch NMEZEE dj’ing his show “Blackout” on Dubstep.fm once a week.
